Guys and Dolls... er, Food...

It just dawned on me that Rayleen was wanting me to explain my theory about guys and food. So here it is! (prepare your minds for an incredible insight!!!.. or not.)

I think guys can be compared to food. It helps me to explain to people why or why I won't go out with a guy again, or at all. For example, I went out with a guy who I dubbed "Salisbury Steak TV Dinner". (To this day, most of my friends don't know his real name.) He sounds good at first and looks good from the outside, but then you see it for real and it's a little disappointing and you don't want it anymore.

Or "Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup" guy... Very nice and good for somebody... Just not me. I'm not sick. (Well, I don't have a cold anyway!) But a great guy!

I think Faythe's fiance is a German sausage. Spicy and a slightly overwhelming if you aren't prepared for it... But most people like it anyway. Good jokes, no matter where you go with it... And usually a bit on the obscene side.

Any questions?

The Date - 25OCT2005

Well, I stand by my decision: corn dog with Grey Poupon. And I'll explain.

I'll begin with the good:
We met at a coffee joint downtown (where I've never been until earlier today) which was actually not a bad place. Very quiet, not huge and not commercial. Paintings on the walls from local artists, books and magazines and games on some shelves for reading or playing - including children's things. Nice place. (His roommate had suggested it.) When I got there, he was easy enough to find (in the middle so I didn't have to search forever) and dressed casual but nice - a long-sleeved shirt (gray) that almost looked like a sweater. I liked it actually. His hair was washed and brushed (I could smell his shampoo for some reason). He was drinking a coffee when I got there (more on that later), and we had good conversation. No awkward moments or anything. Decent guy, decent conversation... a little nerdy, but not too geeky. Oh, and he walked me to my Jeep, which was nice.

Now the Not-So-Good:
I could smell his shampoo?!? Why??? What does he use?!? Shamperfume???
He was drinking a coffee when I got there and told me to go get one... he failed to mention that he had a running tab, which is weird in the first place! So I bought my own.
His ROOMMATE suggested the place: He's 35 years old! He has two roommates!!
He kept staring at me with "I'm really interested" eyes - too much. He agreed with a LOT of what I said - too much. His favorite wine is white zinfandel (which I think is more appropriate for females I guess... so sweet!).
He tried to have a contest with me on who procrastinates more. He "won" because he said he bought a book about procrastination back in the early 90's and he hasn't finished it yet. *sigh*
He got into WAY too much personal info on his family woes and how he was wounded or whatever. Hey Buddy, this is a first date and a coffee date at that!!! Let's keep it casual! I don't want to know your counselor's name!
He sounded like Casey Casum a couple of times... or somebody really familiar.
When he walked me to my Jeep, I could tell he was hoping for... a hug or (I don't even want to say it) more. I was thinking, "You've got to be kidding."... I kept my arms crossed and finally said that I was freezing and made a move for the Jeep (good 'ol Roger!). He went for the hug, which I could deal with. Now, I've had a lot of guy friends and we've talked about hugs and why guys like them. (Not all guys of course, but in general.) It's not because they want to be my friend. He gave me the tight-squeeze hug. *sigh*

So, he's a total corndog because he's very predictable and not exciting. He'd be fun to hang out with or go to a game with, but too much of him would make me sick. The Grey Poupon is because he's sometimes not too average. He throws in a bit of knowledge or humor once in a while, and he's not bad looking. He dresses well and he's not a slob. His hands were clean and nails trim. He was on his best behavior. But he doesn't like sports - he used to like baseball. He doesn't really do things that involve dirt or grease or grime. And he's too "moony". He told me tonight that he was a good listener. I told him about a quote I just read yesterday: "A good listener is usually somebody who is thinking of something else.", or something to that effect. Of course I said it with humor and didn't imply that he was anything like that...

I have a date?

So I have a coffee-date with this guy... no actual day/time set, but I'm supposed to call him. The only thing is, I can't get over his name!!! I won't type his name on my blog of course, but I will say this:

The guy's name rhymes with Fart Balls. Seriously. How am I going to keep a straight face during coffee??? *sigh*

More coffee, Fart Balls? How's your muffin, Fart Balls? That's a great shirt, Fart Balls.

I'll let you know how it goes...

What part of fall are you?

hehehehehehhee.....

You Are Apple Cider

Smooth and comforting. But downright nasty when cold.

8th Grade Math

I'm so proud!!!! And I can't believe it!!!

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 7/10 correct!

I made a hat!

Okay, so I'm knit-maturing slowly. I'm a late knit-blossom. Whatever.

But I made my first hat! Here it is from the front:

And from the top:

And if I were an elf, this is what I would look like (my ears are sticking out... it looks elvish to me):

I made this as a tester, with coarse yarn... Just in case I messed up. I did drop a stitch toward the end, but I found it after I was done and was tying the last knot. So I just tied the dropped stitch to another one so it wouldn't unravel. Good enough!

How weird are you?

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!! Ah jeez!

You Are 70% Weird

You're so weird, you think you're *totally* normal. Right?
But you wig out even the biggest of circus freaks!

What pattern is your brain?

Hm. Not so sure about this one. :)

Your Brain's Pattern

You're a simple thinker, and this is actually a very good thing.
You don't complicate matters when you don't have to.
You look for the simplest explanation or solution, and you go with that.
As a result, your mind is uncluttered and free of stress.

23 and 5... tagged again!

Okay, so it's taking me forever to post. *sigh* This moving is time consuming!! Even after I've moved!!!

So speaking of moving, my 23rd post (I didn't even know I had posted more than 23 times!) and 5th sentence was this:

"I was a little worried about one thing though... Most places want you to be earning 2.5 times your rent and at the place I live now, I make basically 2 times my rent - one paycheck for rent, one to live on."

Obviously I've been consumed with moving for the past few months. But soon it will all be old hat. By the way, have I mentioned that I need to get a lawn mower??? hehehehehehe!!! It's so exciting! I went to Freddies just to check prices and was surprised. I thought they would have one for about $100, but they only had the non-motor one for that price. So I'll find out where the nearest Home Depot is of course. I wonder how hard it is to push the non-motor one...

I'm here!

Well, I finally made it. I was pretty stressed during the move. I was worried that Buddy (my boy cat) would hurt himself again, so I didn't drug either of the cats. It seemed to be the better choice. Buddy yowled for a couple of hours and finally just meowed here and there. By the time we reached Albany he looked beat. And of course, as soon as I put Grace's carrier on the floor, she hissed... and it didn't stop for a couple of days. But they seem to be pretty settled in now.
I have a backyard, which I can look at right now - it's outside my kitchen/dining area. It's actually pretty good sized! The dandelions have totally taken over and I'm afraid if I used a week killer, I might just have dirt left over, but it's mine!!!
I also have something else at this place - as Jeff so sweetly put it: "You don't have a garage... you have a house for Roger." Awww!!! I've asked the landlord if I can repaint the inside because it's a horrible light green and he gave me permission. In fact, he seemed surprised that I would want to. But Roger doesn't like the color, I'm sure! And after I paint it I can hang my Jolly Roger flag.
The house (it's a duplex really... close enough!) has a definite 70's flair to it, but I kind of like it. I've got my livingroom totally decorated. As soon as I can, I'll post pics!
Oh, and my front yard has two rose bushes (one pink, one white) and two hedges. It's a small front yard, but I have a little bit of a side yard next to the driveway and garage too.
I am cooking in my crockpot. I'm making my first roast. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes! It smells pretty good and I'm very excited. I went to a WinCo grocery store and had loads of fun. The bulk section alone kept me entertained for at least 20 minutes. I got a 13 bean soup thing and 10 grain pancake/waffle mix. It was so cheap! I got out of there with about 5 bags for a little less than $40! Which includes the roast I'm making of course.
Okay. That's enough of an update for now... I have to check on my roast!
