Quickie

Okay, I only have a few minutes to get my lazy butt ready for work, but I wanted to share a dream I had. My sister Rayleen and I were graduating something (I have no idea what) and for good grades and whatnot, people won prizes. Of course I knew I was in trouble there, but I still had dumb hope. Rayleen got her prize right away and it was a new car. I thought, "Wow, that car salesman is going to be pissed because she doesn't need to buy one now!"... My prize took a while to get to. We had to go down this stupid list and find out what number mine was. (Rayleen's prize was number 19... I can't remember mine.)

I won a gallon of milk. *sigh*

Culinarily Challenged

So as most of you know, I can't cook very well. But I've been getting better! I swear! And to prove it, I have pictures.

The first picture is... Well, it was a learning experience. To those of you who didn't know, a waffle iron isn't non-stick. It might look like it, but you actually have to use grease or butter or a spray.
This is what comes out if you don't:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I learned quickly. It took a long time to get all of that waffle out of the iron. But here is my first good waffle!:

And, after having a crockpot for over a year but have never used it, I have learned how to make a roast!!! Notice all the garlic... Mmm.... garlic...

Anyway, I'm really proud of my roast. I've made two more since then and actually fed some to somebody special... and he didn't die or get sick! Now I call that a success!

The sp*der and the bee.

It's noon up here in Oregon and there are still remnants of frost on the ground. I am sipping my hot cocoa (I already ate the marshmallows)... *sip, sip, ahhhh* Now let me tell you a story...

There once was a sp*der (I don't want the real word in my blog) who lived in my garage. Let's call it... "Hugo". Mainly because it was freakin' huge. Hugo would roam from corner or corner so that I would never know where to expect him. Oh, and I have a funny feeling it wasn't a him, but a her, and she was making more Hugos...
Anyway, one morning I would go out to the garage and Hugo would be near the garage door, making it difficult to open. The next day, she would be above the door that entered into the house, so I could fear the day when she would drop down on me and kill me.
Now let me introduce you to a bee. We'll call it "Bob". Bob appeared suddenly one day while I was driving in a parking lot. I tried to stop and let him out of the Jeep, but he hid. Of course that just meant that one fateful evening I would turn my headlights on, only to be stung by Bob. But after a week and a half or so, I forgot about Bob and went along my merry way.
A couple of days ago, I go into the garage and look nervously around for Hugo. I get into Roger to start him up and right there on my steering wheel is Bob. I about had a heart attack!!! You see, my first instinct was that it was Hugo! I thought she was there to kill me!!! I spasmed and jumped out of the Jeep. After I realized it was just Bob, I took a piece of paper and knocked him down one of the drain holes in Roger and made sure he was in the path of my tire (he was either dead or dormant).
On my way to open the garage door, ohhhh, there was Hugo. So I quickly opened the door and backed out (although I never found Bob's remains...). I then took the leaf rake (because it has the longest handle), and put good use to the adrenaline that was in place of my blood.
It took about 20 whacks because the leaf rake kept missing, but eventually Hugo was HISTORY!!!!
There is no moral to this story, but it sure makes me happy.

Finally... some pictures

I finally got my film developed and put on a CD so I could put it on my computer... I have a digital camera, but for some reason I can't upload the pics from it onto my computer. But since my 'puter is so slow and it takes forever to put them into Photobucket, here are a few to start with...

Here is the livingroom from the front door:

and from the kitchen:

This is the kitchen/diningroom:

From the livingroom there are stairs next to the door:

And an awesome 70's style light at the top... hehehehehe:

Here's the bathroom upstairs:

And the cat's, oh, I mean guest room... it has empty boxes for the cats to play in, plus a couple of boxes that I haven't unpacked yet:

Okay, I think that's enough for now!!! But more to come...

Guys and Dolls... er, Food...

It just dawned on me that Rayleen was wanting me to explain my theory about guys and food. So here it is! (prepare your minds for an incredible insight!!!.. or not.)

I think guys can be compared to food. It helps me to explain to people why or why I won't go out with a guy again, or at all. For example, I went out with a guy who I dubbed "Salisbury Steak TV Dinner". (To this day, most of my friends don't know his real name.) He sounds good at first and looks good from the outside, but then you see it for real and it's a little disappointing and you don't want it anymore.

Or "Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup" guy... Very nice and good for somebody... Just not me. I'm not sick. (Well, I don't have a cold anyway!) But a great guy!

I think Faythe's fiance is a German sausage. Spicy and a slightly overwhelming if you aren't prepared for it... But most people like it anyway. Good jokes, no matter where you go with it... And usually a bit on the obscene side.

Any questions?

The Date - 25OCT2005

Well, I stand by my decision: corn dog with Grey Poupon. And I'll explain.

I'll begin with the good:
We met at a coffee joint downtown (where I've never been until earlier today) which was actually not a bad place. Very quiet, not huge and not commercial. Paintings on the walls from local artists, books and magazines and games on some shelves for reading or playing - including children's things. Nice place. (His roommate had suggested it.) When I got there, he was easy enough to find (in the middle so I didn't have to search forever) and dressed casual but nice - a long-sleeved shirt (gray) that almost looked like a sweater. I liked it actually. His hair was washed and brushed (I could smell his shampoo for some reason). He was drinking a coffee when I got there (more on that later), and we had good conversation. No awkward moments or anything. Decent guy, decent conversation... a little nerdy, but not too geeky. Oh, and he walked me to my Jeep, which was nice.

Now the Not-So-Good:
I could smell his shampoo?!? Why??? What does he use?!? Shamperfume???
He was drinking a coffee when I got there and told me to go get one... he failed to mention that he had a running tab, which is weird in the first place! So I bought my own.
His ROOMMATE suggested the place: He's 35 years old! He has two roommates!!
He kept staring at me with "I'm really interested" eyes - too much. He agreed with a LOT of what I said - too much. His favorite wine is white zinfandel (which I think is more appropriate for females I guess... so sweet!).
He tried to have a contest with me on who procrastinates more. He "won" because he said he bought a book about procrastination back in the early 90's and he hasn't finished it yet. *sigh*
He got into WAY too much personal info on his family woes and how he was wounded or whatever. Hey Buddy, this is a first date and a coffee date at that!!! Let's keep it casual! I don't want to know your counselor's name!
He sounded like Casey Casum a couple of times... or somebody really familiar.
When he walked me to my Jeep, I could tell he was hoping for... a hug or (I don't even want to say it) more. I was thinking, "You've got to be kidding."... I kept my arms crossed and finally said that I was freezing and made a move for the Jeep (good 'ol Roger!). He went for the hug, which I could deal with. Now, I've had a lot of guy friends and we've talked about hugs and why guys like them. (Not all guys of course, but in general.) It's not because they want to be my friend. He gave me the tight-squeeze hug. *sigh*

So, he's a total corndog because he's very predictable and not exciting. He'd be fun to hang out with or go to a game with, but too much of him would make me sick. The Grey Poupon is because he's sometimes not too average. He throws in a bit of knowledge or humor once in a while, and he's not bad looking. He dresses well and he's not a slob. His hands were clean and nails trim. He was on his best behavior. But he doesn't like sports - he used to like baseball. He doesn't really do things that involve dirt or grease or grime. And he's too "moony". He told me tonight that he was a good listener. I told him about a quote I just read yesterday: "A good listener is usually somebody who is thinking of something else.", or something to that effect. Of course I said it with humor and didn't imply that he was anything like that...

I have a date?

So I have a coffee-date with this guy... no actual day/time set, but I'm supposed to call him. The only thing is, I can't get over his name!!! I won't type his name on my blog of course, but I will say this:

The guy's name rhymes with Fart Balls. Seriously. How am I going to keep a straight face during coffee??? *sigh*

More coffee, Fart Balls? How's your muffin, Fart Balls? That's a great shirt, Fart Balls.

I'll let you know how it goes...

What part of fall are you?

hehehehehehhee.....

You Are Apple Cider

Smooth and comforting. But downright nasty when cold.

8th Grade Math

I'm so proud!!!! And I can't believe it!!!

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 7/10 correct!

I made a hat!

Okay, so I'm knit-maturing slowly. I'm a late knit-blossom. Whatever.

But I made my first hat! Here it is from the front:

And from the top:

And if I were an elf, this is what I would look like (my ears are sticking out... it looks elvish to me):

I made this as a tester, with coarse yarn... Just in case I messed up. I did drop a stitch toward the end, but I found it after I was done and was tying the last knot. So I just tied the dropped stitch to another one so it wouldn't unravel. Good enough!

How weird are you?

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!! Ah jeez!

You Are 70% Weird

You're so weird, you think you're *totally* normal. Right?
But you wig out even the biggest of circus freaks!

What pattern is your brain?

Hm. Not so sure about this one. :)

Your Brain's Pattern

You're a simple thinker, and this is actually a very good thing.
You don't complicate matters when you don't have to.
You look for the simplest explanation or solution, and you go with that.
As a result, your mind is uncluttered and free of stress.

23 and 5... tagged again!

Okay, so it's taking me forever to post. *sigh* This moving is time consuming!! Even after I've moved!!!

So speaking of moving, my 23rd post (I didn't even know I had posted more than 23 times!) and 5th sentence was this:

"I was a little worried about one thing though... Most places want you to be earning 2.5 times your rent and at the place I live now, I make basically 2 times my rent - one paycheck for rent, one to live on."

Obviously I've been consumed with moving for the past few months. But soon it will all be old hat. By the way, have I mentioned that I need to get a lawn mower??? hehehehehehe!!! It's so exciting! I went to Freddies just to check prices and was surprised. I thought they would have one for about $100, but they only had the non-motor one for that price. So I'll find out where the nearest Home Depot is of course. I wonder how hard it is to push the non-motor one...

I'm here!

Well, I finally made it. I was pretty stressed during the move. I was worried that Buddy (my boy cat) would hurt himself again, so I didn't drug either of the cats. It seemed to be the better choice. Buddy yowled for a couple of hours and finally just meowed here and there. By the time we reached Albany he looked beat. And of course, as soon as I put Grace's carrier on the floor, she hissed... and it didn't stop for a couple of days. But they seem to be pretty settled in now.
I have a backyard, which I can look at right now - it's outside my kitchen/dining area. It's actually pretty good sized! The dandelions have totally taken over and I'm afraid if I used a week killer, I might just have dirt left over, but it's mine!!!
I also have something else at this place - as Jeff so sweetly put it: "You don't have a garage... you have a house for Roger." Awww!!! I've asked the landlord if I can repaint the inside because it's a horrible light green and he gave me permission. In fact, he seemed surprised that I would want to. But Roger doesn't like the color, I'm sure! And after I paint it I can hang my Jolly Roger flag.
The house (it's a duplex really... close enough!) has a definite 70's flair to it, but I kind of like it. I've got my livingroom totally decorated. As soon as I can, I'll post pics!
Oh, and my front yard has two rose bushes (one pink, one white) and two hedges. It's a small front yard, but I have a little bit of a side yard next to the driveway and garage too.
I am cooking in my crockpot. I'm making my first roast. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes! It smells pretty good and I'm very excited. I went to a WinCo grocery store and had loads of fun. The bulk section alone kept me entertained for at least 20 minutes. I got a 13 bean soup thing and 10 grain pancake/waffle mix. It was so cheap! I got out of there with about 5 bags for a little less than $40! Which includes the roast I'm making of course.
Okay. That's enough of an update for now... I have to check on my roast!

Getting ready for the move

So I might not be "bloggin'" for a little while (like that's something new), due to the move. I'm not looking forward to the cat's reactions... Buddy yowls and Grace is horrible once we are at the new place. Buddy's fine at the new place, but Grace takes a couple of days. They're still pretty clueless right now... poor cats! :)

My new place (from what I hear) has a decently sized (and mostly private) back yard, a garage and a place for a washer and dryer. I'm happy about all of these things!! Oh, it's a duplex, so I'm only sharing one wall now. It's a step up from apartments and that's great.

A friend is picking up the U-Haul trailer and dropping it off tomorrow afternoon... and my uncle and cousin will be helping me with the actual move. I'm just hoping it will be quick and moderately painless. I'm probably going to put the cats in the jeep with me... I just can't imagine putting them in the U-Haul, although it might be better on my nerves. Hopefully I'll be able to keep them calmer if they are with me. ???

Okay. Well, I'm signing off for now... until I get everything situated in the new place!

Off to a new adventure!

Roger and me

This summer, as I was driving back home from a trip to my mom's house, I decided I wanted a picture of me and Roger. Especially since it was a gorgeous, sunny day on the coast! So I took a picture while I was driving... You can't exactly see the scenery or anything, but it's one of my favorite pictures of us two. It looks like I'm talking on a cellphone, but it's actually the camera.

National Talk Like A Pirate Day

September 19th was National Talk Like A Pirate Day. Of course I couldn't really dress up like a pirate where I work, but in honor I wore a wristband that had a skull and crossbones and on the other side it says, "Dead men tell no tales"... Rayleen got it for me when she went to Disneyland. :)

Flash back to about two or three months ago... I was wearing my "I love pirates" bracelet that Rayleen got for me when a guy asked me if it were my Jeep out there in the parking lot - obviously because of the licence plate and jolly roger flag. I told him it was and we got into a lively conversation about pirates. I never saw him after that...

Flash forward to September 19th... And I saw that guy again with his wife, two small children and baby. They were all dressed as pirates! And he carried a ukelele!!! I wish I had a camera then!!! They sang to me the pirate song from the VeggieTales movie, and since they had the words printed out, I sang along - totally embarrassing most of the people in the store.

At first I was embarrassed, but then I figured they were having tons of fun and it was almost like a singing telegram... not that I would ever want one again. But it was done in great fun!!!!

Here's a pic of the song sheet and the "booty" they gave us (homemade peanut butter cookies):

Even though this is a little late, HAPPY NATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!!

American dream?

I'm watching "You've Got Mail" on DVD and I started thinking, "What an awesome little shop she has. I would love to have something like that!". What is that? Is that an American thing? Or do you think other people in other nations have the same desire, to have a business of their own? Or is it a stability/ownership thing? Is it an age thing? What is this?!?!?!?!!???

I can't bear to think of buying a home because I think (sometimes) that I'm a gypsy and I move too much. But the thought of owning a small business... that's a nice thought! So what's the difference?

OMG... am I growing up?!?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Somebody say it isn't so!!!!

People are strange

I'm beginning to think I just have too high of expectations for people. I had to work with a "new" pharmacist recently and I talked to her on the phone briefly before meeting her in person. I gave her directions to our store and told her it was about a two hour drive from where she was. She seemed nice. Let's call her "Jane". On the first day Jane was supposed to work with us, she was half an hour late. I got to hear ALL DAY about how it's really a two and a half hour drive and the next time I told somebody how far it was, make sure to tell them two and a half hours. All day.
I've made it in less than two hours in my jeep.

Jane showed up wearing checkered pants, a nice-ish sweater top and comfortable shoes (which makes sense as we are standing all day). Her gray hair was pulled back into a reasonable, out of the way ponytail that was placed low on her head. She wore no makeup, which is fine... But to top off the look, she wore a big flannel jacket.

Jane looks like she is from Eugene and has a stand at the Saturday Market.

During the day she started telling us "funny" stories... And also told us that somebody in one of the other stores didn't appreciate her humor and "told on her". She was trying to get us to reassure her that we wouldn't rat her out. After receiving what she took as approval, she proceeded to tell us basically any story that included the following words: vagina, vaginal, vaginally and condom.

And of course she couldn't tell these stories too loud, so she would get really close to us to tell us... Way into my personal bubble!!!

Speaking of oddness, the Phlatulant Pharmacist is up to something. He's been getting bold lately. The other evening after I left, the cashier told me about his behavior and some of the things he was saying. I told our pharmacy manager because I swear it sounds like he's on something!!! There will be no partaking of the merchandise, mister!

He was jumping (literally) around the pharmacy and hopping or skipping from med to med. He complained about me a lot, which is normal and expected. He started talking crap about a baby. A BABY!!! The mother is 16 years old and we know her... We have pictures of the baby in the pharmacy because he's a sweetheart of a baby and the grandmother (who is my age) works with us. Apparently he hates the pictures and every time he sees them he gets mad. So of course I posted my pictures of the baby in a very obvious location. Hehehehe.

And the kicker: He started to say the "N" word!!! He got half of it out before stopping. The cashier said, "Wow, I'm shocked at you!", and he started giggling in a high pitch.
??????????????? What is going on here??????????

One last thing before I end this huge post - I keep my water (a gallon jug) in the pharmacy so I can drink it while working. I came in after having the weekend off and I swear it looks like somebody (the P.Pharmacist) spit in it or something. There are bubbles or something. So I bought more water and saved the other water so I can dump it out while he's there. There wasn't much left anyway. And maybe I'm just really paranoid? But I'm not taking any chances with this freak!
